Personally I shall miss him.

I treasure that time years ago, when he kept asking Michael Howard the same question, over and over again, until he got a straight answer. There must be an awful lot of politicians, of all Parties, who are breathing a collective sigh of relief, now that he has said he is going.

It's been said that during a 20th anniversary edition of Newsnight, Paxman told Howard that he had simply been trying to prolong the interview since the next item in the running order wasn't ready!

Jomlett..I heard that as well and it simply doesn't sound remotely true. Ann Widdecombe had the right idea about Howard...that there is indeed a touch of the night about him !

I've just watched the interview again and, to be honest, I am beginning to feel sorry for the poor woman. She was clearly promoted above her abilities and shouldn't have had to face Paxo.
