Pre-Printing/editing Symbols

I have seen websites and printed material that displays foreign/strange non comprehensible symbols. This is obviously some sort of pre editing/finalising process but what is the name of this term?

the wording looks Latin but every picture that this writing is under is different so the wording should be different. one section of the website I have been looking at has the following under the picture."Aenean aliquet pulviler dui, nec tempus lectus posuere quis". Any clues?

Are you talking about 'Lorem ipsum', the dummy Latin text that is used by graphic designers before final copy is supplied?
