How to cut-up a CD into pieces

What material is a CD made from? What is the best way of cutting one up?

A big pair of scissors.

My advise is, scissors or snap it in half.

With a metal ruler and a Stanley knife, score it across it's diameter. Lay a dishcloth on the side of a stable surface, (like a washing machine), put the CD on the cloth so the score line is on the edge, fold the cloth back over, and snap!

Or, place it in your microwave oven for exactly 3 seconds... when it's done it is totally destroyed for information but makes a really attractive coaster for your good dining room table...

I'm not sure what they're made of but CD's release Cyanine gas when microwaved.

Not been able to find anything on the diference between Cyanine and Cyanide, but it doesn't sound likes it's good for you.

wrap it in a towel and snap it in half. The towel is just so pieces dont come back at you.
