Definitely worth a watch but a bit dark and depressing. The acting is good.

Rubbish hollywood nonsense. There is a bit about a woman phoning one of the characters and they dont show her face. No connection with the story at all. sean penn...amazing my backside....look at the final shot where he finds out he has killed the wrong guy. He strikes a cool pose and walks down the street with his hands aloft. Yeah thats some acting. who does things like this...who walks down the middle of the road looking cool.....rubbish trash and it won a few oscars so i rest my case.

Haven't seen the film, but the novel on which it is based, by Dennis Lehane, is superb. The film will have to go some way to better it.

Had to reply to this. Man on Fire is dirge, what Denzel Washington was thinking of I dont know. Not as violent as its made out to be and nowhere near as good. Bored the tits off me. Mystic River is a great movie with, imhb the best actor in the world at the minute, Sean Penn. However the whole cast is spot on, especially Tim Robbins. The story is disturbing and deliberately ambigous at time. When I first watched it I though it was just ok, but I kept thinking about it weeks and months afterwards and now think it is a fantastic piece of work. Similar in pace and structure, but different story, is the Jack Nicholson movie The Pledge.

I watched it in the end, it wasnt mind blowing but not bad. Yes I've seen man on fire, good film, the book is so much better though.
