Only one photograph should be signed. Obviously the signed photograph will be submitted loose, but I am Not sure about the other one.

There is an official Government telephone advice line. (No. 0300 222 0000)

Hans.
Can I suggest you use the Post Office Check and Send facility ?

The Post Office staff will check these forms out for you and tell you if you have missed anything or made a mistake. They will then send them off and in my experience you will get your passport a little quicker. They make a charge but I don't thinks its very much and the peace of mind is priceless !

Thank you .I have already done it online, paid for etc.just got to post the Declaration form with pics and expiring passport.(Oct 14)
Another question, one has to have 6 months remaining on passport when one travels...so what happens to the 6 months when renewing
Kloof if you're travelling in the European Union then you don't need 6 months, the passport just has to be valid up to the time you return to the UK. I think the time (up to a certain amount) is added on to the new expiry date.
Last time we renewed our passports we got to "keep" the remaining time. In other words, the new passports were valid for more than 10 years.

Just rang the helpline which Hans gave me.Pic does not have to signed (this is only needed when the persons appearance has changed considerably) and they are sent loose..
Glad its OK for you kloofnek...wherever you are going, have a nice time !
i would be wary if you've paid online - i thought you could only send a cheque or debit card details with the application - are you sure you are doing it through the official site, rather than one of those who charge you?
I paid 25 euros for courier delivery of my new passport. I wasn't in when the courier came so they posted it a few days later when it had been returned to the embassy. What a bargain? 24 Euros to get it later than if posted normally.
You can pay by debit or credit card now by the looks of it.
I'd use the PO check and send facility too, you do have to pay for it but it is much quicker, IME, too.

The six months left on your passport is added to the end of the duration of the next passport (that's what happened with mine).
My last passport was received in a week. I've never used the PO service.
Same as Ummm, always back in about a week, in fact when I renewed the kids it was 6 days. My mate used the PO and it came back with mistakes, they wouldn't give her her money back.

Don't bother with the PO check - they're no more capable of checking you've filled it in correctly than you are - and probably less so.
