I hope this is handled as sensibly as possibly to negate that where it can be negated.
I agree with AOG, the 56 year old would have only been 14 in 1972. Which, in itself, means very little, but it is my experience (3 tours of Northern Ireland in mid 70s to early 80s) that lots of young men - and some young women - were 'press ganged' into joining one faction or another. The 'press-ganging' usually taking on some form of a sinister threat made to one or all member of the family. It would therefore not be beyond the realms of imagination that this 14 year old was forced into having some role in the abduction of the victim.
