I'm hoping someone can help me out here while i was going through stuff to throw out i came across a paperback novel of the movie 'Halloween' published by Corgi books. My friend is convinced it is a first uk edition it says in the inside cover A Cogi Book 0 552 11375-1 then it says First publication in Great Britain.I have no idea when it comes to things about first edition books. If it does turn out to be a first edition does anyone know any sites where i could get it valued? The book was published in 1980. Thanxs
Check out your Yellow Pages, or the Web, for some book dealers and run the details past them. You''ll get a general idea of your book is worth anything, and then you can hit e-bay with a suitable reserve price, and go from there. Good luck.
To booksellers and collecters a 'first edition' is actually both a first edition and a first printing of a book. Look for a sequence of numbers on the publication page - this is a 'print line' and if it's a first printing it should contain the number 1. e.g. 1 2 3 4 5, etc., or sometimes the numbers run backwards.
