// His victory comes despite controversy over links to the paramilitary Hindu nationalist group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) - which some describe as neo-fascist.
As chief minister of Gujarat, Mr Modi was criticised for failing to apologise for religious riots in 2002 in which at least 1,000 people died - mostly Muslims.
However, suspicions prompted the United States to deny him a visa in 2005, while Britain maintained a diplomatic boycott on Mr Modi until 2012. //
With our right-on stance to Islam and the boycott of him until very recently this could have quite a serious impact on the UK, he is unlikely to be over the moon with us.

That resulted in him being black balled by us for a quite a while and the US tried ridiculously hard to get him taken out of the picture by digging around for mass graves that weren't there - all to no avail. I think we will have to suck it and see, but he'll be economically good for India and even Pakistan favoured him as a leader because they believe he will be a suitable man with whom to smooth things over.
