Talking of remembering food

Does anyone remember a chocolate bar called Banjo. It had really creamy chocolate and chopped nuts and wafer. I used to love them along with Counters.

YES ! I do, we had a shop and sold sweets etc, so we used to get the latest products to try from the wholesalers.
It was really tasty. Was it blue wrapper with yellow writing.
I remember an advert for them to, something like
"Banjo, banjo the one for me and you, light and crispy wafer ........???? and sesame seed too " ? something like that, or am I imagining it !? sung in a kind of Southern cowboy style.

I remember it too. Not being a nut fan I didn't like the original... but then suddenly a toasted coconut version appeared and that was fantastic Seem to recall it being in two fingers something like a twix??? Also pretty sure it was a red wrapper with yellow writing, but am happy to stand corrected on that aspect.

It's mentioned here, but sadly there's no pic. Lots of other classic sweets though which made me go "oooo yes, I remember them!"

Oh my goodness, I have asked so many friends about this and I was convinced I had imagined it because they had no idea what I was talking about. It was my absolute favourite,yes tillyplops you are dead right about the song. Banjo is real special, Banjo is brand new, light and crispy wafer.... ..... ...... peanuts too!!! something like that anyway.
Now you've done it tigger I WANT ONE !

Isn't it funny how we all have flashbacks of our favourite things every now and again. I can almost taste it now. I don't remember the song to the ad though. My other fav were Counters. The came in a little white bag with little chickens on the front (bit like Creme egg chicken). They were exactly like the counters you get in a Revels, or minstrels without the shell.

I am doing myself no favours by talking about chocolate. I'm gonna be dreaming about it now!!! Or having nightmares, whichever way you look at it!!! LOL

oh my goodness, yes banjos, i loved them, i remember eating so many that i felt sick once and i also remember them giving me toothache when i had a bad tooth back in the old days. so they arent around anymore? im off for some chocolate out of the cupboard right now!!

I loved Banjo, it was gorgeous wish Mars would re-issue it. Don't think there is anything on the market that tastes quite like it. Think it was nutty cream filling, wafers and chopped nuts and covered in milk chocolate it was delish!
