Letter S Not Working On My Viao Laptop Keypad

The keyboard letter S has been "sticky" for a while so I removed it and cleaned underneath. Still not too good.
Can any members suggest what I do next?

I have recently had that problem, no amount of cleaning made any difference and eventually a whole swathe of letters stopped working. I had to get a replacement keyboard (about £20). Hopefully your problem is not as drastic as that and a techie will give further advice.

A usb keyboard can be bought for under ten pounds in Tesco...

It can minty and that's what I used for several weeks but it got to be a pain balanced on top all the time.

My G went and the keyboard had to be replaced, about £30 on an Asus and quick to do in the shop.

as a last resort use a thesaurus so that you can avoid any words containing an s

or replace it with a 'f' - even better the symbol for function. More seriously, you could use an alt key for s temporarily Alt 115 on mine and Alt 83 for S......

It looks easy to buy a replacement keyboard but I have so far found that they are offered with a US keyboard. No use to me.

I am sure that there are UK keyboards available to purchase. What is the Model Number of your Laptop and the colour of the keyboard ?.

Now that I have spent time searching the Net for a replacement keyboard, I am able to appreciate your difficulty of finding one with a UK layout.

Perhaps you have a local firm that repairs laptops, because that now seems to be the only avenue open to you. A Repairer should be able to replace the single key that is faulty.

Finally I've taken off the S key, cleaned up under it, thumped the centre contact little dome a few times and then put the S key back into place.
So far it seems to be working OK.
