My Friend Cant Get Access To His G Mail Account

A friend of mine is trying to access his Emails on his IPhone 4 but it has suddenly started to ask for his password which he has unfortunately forgot.

Is there any way he can still sign in to his Gmail account?

It'll be easier to resolve from a PC rather than phone.

Not sure how up to date this is but I can't imagine things have changed much.
