Please could you suggest some plants/shrubs/trees that will grow in pots on my garden decking--they must be fragrant, fairly quick growing, and hardy-the decking is raised and open to the elements-we face the sea, though it's in the distance, but it does get wind, rain etc. Thank you.

Daphne Odora is an evergreen bush which has small pink flowers and the most delightful perfume which you can smell all over the garden. We grow it inland but my original cuttings were taken from several bushes growing within half a mile of the south coast coast so it should be OK in your environment. It flowers during February and March and the bees love it.
the above looks a good choice to me, Tamarisk or sea buckthorn may do well on the coast too..
As well as the above posts, Eleagnus are very tolerant of cold winds in coastal areas
What about Hydrangeas...Climbing roses... Honeysuckle Caryopteris.. Fig Tree are all growing in pots on my patio also a Lilac Tree and a Cherry tree are in pots (these two are recent additions so not sure how successful they will turn out) I also have a potted standard Wisteria...Hope this helps
