Email Access, Have I Been Hacked?

Since earlier today, I am unable to open emails, even old ones, when I click onto an email the address bar goes https://ads1.msads.net/adbar/products/v2.1/wl_html/adbar

and goes no further.
Does anyone know what's happening?
I'm using windows 8 and I'm trying to open Hotmail

Run a virus scan if you haven't already.

Then download the free version of Malwarebytes and run a scan with that as well.

I can access my emails normally on my smartphone and on a different laptop. My husband's emails appear normally on the offending pc so it may be a Microsoft issue, I'll try and get some answers from there. If I forward an email into my Yahoo account, it shows normally before I send it.
Thanks for the advice. I have a full Norton security which doesn't track any problems, I don't use Skype and however I access it I have the problem. I'm keeping everything crossed that it may go away!

According to the Microsoft forum this has been a problem in the last few days but, fingers crossed, it looks to have been sorted. Thanks for the advice.
