"Seven EU countries moved 'to the Left' in the recent elections - notably those that have suffered worst in the recession.

Spain
Greece
Italy
Portugal
Slovakia
Romania

and Ireland, where Sinn Fein made significant gains
"

Indeed - additionally, I'm not sure I'd classify UKIP in the UK as "the far right", distasteful though they may be. The real far right in the form of the BNP more or less vanished from sight - if that was partly down to UKIP then at least that is something one can be thankful for. Le Pen is making eyes at Farage from across the dancefloor but so far he has resisted :-)
If Turkey is not allowed to join on the grounds they are not 100% in Europe's borders, but straddle the line, then Israel should not be allowed to enter the Eurovision song contest ;-)
Turkey is partly in Europe, therefore qualifies on that score at least.

Eurovision is interesting. Any country can take part if it's in the European Broadcasting Union. Which includes, or has included, countries from Middle East/North Africa.
How Kazakhstan can be allowed to be in UEFA is a mystery to me :-)

But Turkey's entry into the EU will not be determined by a few Armenians banging on about a genocide from a century ago.
And the euromaniacs will certainly not allow a trifling matter such as geographical location thwart their plans for world domination.

their entry won't be determined by it; but France's stance will be.

/// Popular party
Key figure: Paulo Portas (leader, Popular party)
Portuguese parliamentary elections held this March saw the Popular party win 14 seats, after polling almost 9% of the vote. The fiercely anti-immigration party, led by crusading rightwing journalist Paulo Portas, is now part of a rightwing coalition. Mr Portas has pledged to introduce tight immigration limits and to prevent the transfer of further national powers to the EU. ///
"(Part of Kazakhstan is in Europe. Kazakhstan is a huge uncrowded Country with natural resources for sale to all its neighbours. Let's be nice to Kazakhstan and not take the ball away). "

If Kazakhstan is partially in Europe then Turkey most certainly is.
I wouldn't want to be TOO nice to Mr Nazarbayev. He's a nasty piece of work. They certainly won't be joining the EU though.
