It seems we have far too many daft indulgent parents around these days.

What utter rubbish, mikey. You appear to be morphing into another ABer.
Do you have children btw?
Kids should just eat what they are given, no choice !
Question Author
What is rubbish Roy ? Bringing up your children to eat a range of different items, or just filling your kids up with chips, burgers, and crisps ?

Just seems common sense to me, which was the gist of the BBC link.

No, I have no children, but I have nieces and nephews that don't eat any fruit whatsoever. The only thing that apples, pears, bananas, strawberries, oranges, etc, etc have in common is that we call them all fruit, so how can any child not like such a wide range of different tastes, and textures ? A strawberry and a banana taste completely different !

When I was growing up, in the 50's and 60's, a plate of strawberries for Sunday tea was a luxury, and if I or any of my four brothers would have sulked and said "I don't like strawberries" he would have been elbowed out of the way by the rest of us, in a rush to get his portion.

Same thing with veg..what's not to like about a roasted potato ?
bringing up children. Its seems to be a vanishing art these days.

The above is rubbish. It's something I would expect from AOG.

That is your opinion Roy, which I don't concur with ! I am entitled to my opinion, as indeed you are yours. Isn't there room here on AB for everybodies stance on issues like this ?
You could have a fight to sort it out Mikey, you could assault one another with your least favourite vegetable- and may the best man win:)
Oh dear we mustn't upset the "little darlings" ! Kids nowadays seem to rule the roost, with very little boundaries.
You need to improve your parenting skills if that is what you think, whirlyhurly.

***Slaps mikey with a piece of celery***
That's insulting, Mikey.

I see wonderful parents daily. We still bake cakes and teach them to cook.

I recently went on holiday and left my 15 year old in charge (not on his own, my cousin stayed but she worked nights)

He budgeted his school money, his food money, and his fun money......and gave us change on our return.

ps...he also fed his older brother who has a full time job!

Parenting skills or neglect?
Artichokes not really an everyday vegetable. I like them but never had them as a child. The idea of pureed artichokes makes me gag.
Question Author
kvalidir...not sure what vegetable I could use, as even I don't like all veg. It would probably to a joint effort with a sprout and a Jerusalem Artichoke. Both give me excessive wind of a most unfortunate kind.
