Lidl Special Offer

I turned up at my local Lidl store @ 9.08 to purchase a Fujitsu tablet which was on limited special offer. The staff member said their were all sold within minutes of store opening @9.00 am.
A very small amount of "non" Lidl shoppers would have got these tablets leaving the vast majority of regular Lidl shoppers disappointed.
How on earth could this be a plus for the image of Lidl? A small number of people are happy but the majority are unhappy. I am lucky that Aldi have a store nearby so i know where i will be going in future.
Do the management of Lidl not realize that sometimes these so called limited offers could in the end leave a negative approach towards their image. Maybe they do not care, but as for me as a customer i do care. The customer is always right. Or is he!

They probably do these things to attract the non Lidl customers. Once they are inside they may become Lidl customers.

When I lived in West Cornwall the local Lidl's opened at 9am. They started queuing from about 8.20am. I would pass taking the children to school a see a small queue. On my return journey there would almost be a need for bouncers every Monday & Thursday.

It's always a scrum when they have good offers .
Mr S went there last week and phoned me to say they had a good offer on mince for a quid ,so I asked him just to get two .He came back without it and said that a woman had elbowed him out of the way ,scooped up the lot that was in the chiller cabinet and raced to the checkout ..lol....greedy mare.

I'm amazed to see your superior comment that you won't be "grovelling and queueing" for special offers - you wanted the item on discounted price, you have to get there early. There is nothing demeaning about getting a bargain, and Aldi and Lidl customers know full well that you have to get there straight away to secure those special items. I bought both my halogen oven and my steam cleaner at 9am from Aldi - almost every other customer at that time of day was buying the special items, not normal shopping. I'm on the Aldi mailing list and they have a weekly leaflet - you were just too late, "when it's gone, it's gone!"

Hi Porkchop - it probably means it was actually a bargain, rather than a pretend offer after an inflated price.

Lidl & Aldi are quite random with what they have in, so I don't think this behaviour is anything unusual. I know that if I don't pick up something odd in there the first time I see it, it'll be gone shortly afterwards.

Sycamore3House, You have hit the nail on its head. Maybe i am now glad that i did not to buy the Fujistu tablet. To see all the grovelling and queuing some people have to do to get a bargain i am happy to let some needy sod have the tablet which would have mine! In a reverse way that was my good deed for the day so i am happy! I will go and get my tablet in a store where i know i am helping local employment.

I have often gone to a shop due to an advertised offer and havent felt guilty about shoppers who may be "store regulars" who have missed out. I am not heartless, I just, like many have an eye for a bargain!

...and shopping at aldi does not help local employment? How do you come to that conclusion? It sounds as if you are trying to sound superior to aldi workers/shoppers. Of course you'd not be feeling that way if you'd gotten a tablet....

Sorry to digress....just to say that Lidl do a lovely cheese called Valley Spire Vintage Cheddar.

Has the taste and bite of Davidstow but at a much better price.

I'm relatively lucky. When it comes to the like of the Fujitsu tablet, my local Lidl store in Scotland would probably have sold out straight away. Fortunately there's a Lidl store up in the Highlands which for some reason has a very slow rate of sales on electrical and electronic items. Knowing this, on several occasions I've asked in my local store if they would phone that outlet to see if they still have the item I want in stock, and if so, can they ship it. The staff have been perfectly willing to do this, and so far I've not missed out on an item I've wanted.

I agree with Royfromaus. If you'd wanted it that much you should have got there earlier. The store aren't to blame. They want to sell the stock.....and they did.

I've been outside Lidl at 7.30 on a couple of occasions to ensure I bagged an offer. I have always come away with the offer that I wanted.

I shouldn't think Waitrose/Tesco/even Harrods are any different. They sell stuff. Once it's gone.....it's gone.

No point getting mad about it. Lidl have an excellent image.

You said it yourself. LIMITED SPECIAL OFFER...........
