Cowardice In The Face Of Bees . . .
9 Answers
I have an awful feeling that there may be a swarm of bees in my roof, but I can't face opening the trap-door to find out. There seem to be lots of bees buzzing round a particular part of the edge of the roof outside, and I am worried lest they have found a hole. I fear having thousands of bees rush out into the landing and bedrooms if I open up the loft.
I don't need to go up there, as I do not use the space to store stuff. It is heavily insulated, so I might not hear them buzzing anyway.
Any ideas ?

Most local beekeepers will deal with them just to maintain good relations with the public. If they can remove the entire nest they will but bees in roof spaces can be too inaccessible as the queen has to be caught. In this case they will be destroyed. You should determine whether they are bees or wasps ASAP. If bees are left to increase, the the wax of the honeycomb can soften in the summer heat(as if) and release large quantities of honey which can trickle through ceilings and wall cavities making a very difficult mess.
