The wood in our house is painted with a non-gloss paint, I don't think it's eggshell, there's a slight sheen to it. What kind of paint will give such a finish to wood? I need to repaint and I don't like gloss. Thanks

Satin
Water-based acrylic paint gives this sheened surface to wood.
Satin...
...."satin" describes the finish....not the TYPE of paint...
The finish is the important thing here. I is also worth noting that water based paints are not a hard wearing. A painter frend will never use them.
excuse the typos

Thanks for such prompt replies! I'm off into town tomorrow to find some, it's looking a bit grotty at the moment.

Crossed with Uriah Heep's posts, I think it may be a water based paint, it's certainly not hard wearing, on the stair rail it's worn through.
Possibly "Satinwood", Zebo (assuming it's indoors)
