The whole toenail is not removed, just each side. Do take proper advice - and in the meantime if it's infected soak in a bowl of warm water and Savlon.
If its in-growing then you've probably been cutting them too short anyway... wouldn't advise cutting them any more. Don't bother with a chiropidist, you need a Dr, you'll probably get referred to hospital for a minor op to remove part of the nail and stop it growing into the flesh surrounding the nail - not a particularly nice procedure to watch, but they give you good local anaesthetic... moral of the story???? don't cut your finger nails down too much!!!
