Good evening all.... I wonder if somebody out there watched television last night and saw part of a programme which was about Stonehaven open-air pool?
Apparently it was on television between 7 and 8 o'clock last night but I unfortunately missed it.... And what is more I can't find it mentioned in my Radio Times.... Nor can I find mention of it on iPlayer or equivalent.
The Stonehaven outdoor open-air is a famous venue - and certainly worth a visit if you're in the area. It is an Olympic sized pool - a real lido with seawater - fully heated to 82F -or 28C if you are so minded...LOL
Now then having given it a plug....LOL.... I would be very grateful if somebody out there would let me know where it was on so that I can track it down.... Apparently it was really good!!
Many thanks in anticipation as always

Could it have been On the Road on BBC 1 Scotland?
Go onto their facebook page and there is a link on that to watch on I player.
It's a fab pool, we live nearby and go often.
My memory of that pool was a school trip and my new swimming costume getting bleached by the water!

Well spotted you eagle eyed lot!!! Because my Radio Times didn't list the Stonehaven item in the blurb of "On The Road".... I did not pursue it. I have now watched it however on iPlayer and Fred McAuley did a great job of advertising our wonderful pool..... And yes I too live very close by..LOL All the more reason for being cross I missed the actual item live last night!
Like so many people I learned to swim there.... My mother being of somewhat masochistic temperament.... trod on my fingers every time I tried to get out...LOL Happily those of us with a good memory will remember (Mr Persil - so-called because of his sparklingly white sweatshirts ...!) Mr Morrison the pool superintendent who taught so many of us to swim properly.
Believe me you are not alone with your "bleached costume" either... If they are not fully rinsed out properly after each swim even these days your costume invariably changes colour and falls apart after about a month's daily usage in our chlorinated seawater.....HA HA
Back in the bad old days when mothers actually knitted your swimming costume for you.... You can picture the scene..... as you clambered up the steps out of the water...... with your costume round your knees...LOL LOL
AH... Those were the days!
Thank you again everybody for your help in finding required item.
Yours aye
Alz.
