Why is it that it seems OK for adverts on radio and TV for DIY outlets openly targeting father's day, suggesting you buy your dad a drill or a pressure washer or whatever, but if there were adverts on mothers day for irons, food mixers or pots and pans there would be uproar and cries of sexism? Just wondered.
That's an interesting point, Dave, but in all fairness, I think most blokes enjoy a spot of DIY (whether or not they're good at it, is a different matter) but items such as irons and food mixers are more related to household chores than stuff women actually enjoy doing.
DIY tends to be a hobby for people where as cooking and cleaning, although enjoyed by many, is more of a necessity. Adverts for flowers and spas are a plenty around Mothers Day, but no-one really wants to receive a saucepan.
If you don't want a new drill dave50, make quite sure your folks know what to buy you before the day is out today!
