What is a drugs marker?

Put simply, it is a flag up of suspicion against a person and/or vehicle when details are run through the system - indicating that in the past there has been some connection with drugs.

This Info can often go wrong and if you think it is I believe you can challenge it.

What they are saying is ...'We're keeping an eye on you'.

So it's not so serious as it sounds. It shouldn't effect his chances of an Esta?

Well, presuming he has no actual criminal History and CRB checks that he requires come back clear, I can't see why it should - but I am no expert at all.

Can he honestly give the 'right' answers to the questions on the ESTA form?

If so there should be no problems.

An ESTA is valid 2 years - if there is any doubt perhaps he should apply now. If any issues are flagged up then there's time to resolve them. Get the ESTA first, THEN book the holiday, is a good policy.
