Poorly Mx 5 1992

dead car ..had on jump leads for 10 minutes (mazda mx 5 1992) while on jump leads headlights worked popped them up and lights on .no dash lights ....off jump leads not a blooming thing ...battery now off car and in house been charging for 12 hours and no green light on charger as yet ... any suggestions or explanation

As I read it, you might as well have simply written 'my battery's knackered'!

If you've had no electrical problems recently, my guess is a that a hairline crack has allowed the fluid to drain out of it.

Yes the battery is totally dead , you need a new one. Car batteries do not last forever, eventually the plates get so damaged that the battery will not charge no matter how long you charge it for.

Hi there: Sounds like the main fuse has gone ... check out the fuse box under the bonnet. You have the mechanical pop up lights, methinks, and yet you say the headlights came on? Intermittent mainline electric problem ... I still suspect the main fuse ... Good luck!

Change the battery, it's knacked.

To add, try another battery before buying new.

good morning ..battery fully charged ..checked fluid level all ok ....back on car ...only thing that works yet again pop up headlights ...pop up and able to switch them on ............

Check the earth lead where it is bolted to the bodywork. Unbolt it and make sure the metal where it's bolted to on the body work is clean and rust free and that the earth connector on the battery lead is also clean.
