My sister started having hearing problem since her late teen age. She is now 54 years old. She just migrated from Nepal in the US as a permanent residence. I was wondering if she can apply for a healthcare insurance and start looking for her ear cure right away i.e. visit hospitals and doctors. Ignoring the co-pay, will the insurance company be liable for all the fees associated with doctors and the visit? please advise.

Yes and yes, though she may have to have a medical and they will pick up on the deafness and limit their liability.
To clarify what DTC has said, your sister's deafness may be what is called a "pre existing condition" which means that she had it before she started the insurance. It would not be unusual for an insurance company to refuse to cover her for this or to limit the amount they would pay to get it fixed.
This is a UK site and by reading your post, she's in America?
Some of us have lived Stateside, tuvok, and then there's the likes of pasta, an American living over here.....
I do not want to act as a "damp sqid" here, but i cannot think of any deafness that starts in the late teens and is curable 36 years on.

Sorry.
here's a good case in point sqad, pound to penny she wont be able to get insurance because it's a pre existing condition. Now if they had........

TTT...you are like a "dog with a bloody bone"

You know the system of health care when and where you are born and react accordingly.

The NHS will never change.........don't worry yourself and think, you will always have the Uk NHS to attend to your medical needs.......that must cheer you up.

perhaps but does it not blow a hole in any other system when we know that this person will never get treated in the US unless she pays the full cost herself.
