Are Acer machines relatively good value for money?

I looked at acer laptops in Comet last wekend but they were abit unhelpful staff wise, I bought an Avent one from Currys in the end, staff alot more helpful and interested.

That would appear to be a review of the retailers rather than the equipment, which is not what is required here.

My eldest daughter bought an Advent for Uni and it didn't even last through to the end of her 2nd year.

My youngest daughter bought an Acer, also for Uni. She graduates shortly and the Acer is still performing well.

Incidentally, the local staffs of the two retailers mentioned were the exact opposite towards me last weekend.

Acer's seem to be very good value, well at least the laptops are. My dad has just purchased one, and it is a very good laptop with a strong, clear screen and a DVD drive, at a relatively low price. I would recommend buying an Acer Laptop if laptops are your thing.
My recommendation is that you should want to spend between �300 and �400 to get a good standard laptop from Acer, you will not be disappointed in my opinion.

I understand that my response was not what was asked, but having beel shopping for acer and advent laptops, I was able to choose an advent because the staff were able to explain the features to me, it seemed to suit my requirements. the acer models were probably as good but noone was bothered to try and sell me them, and hence i haven't come away with a good opinion about the service nor the machine.

I have a 19" widescreen Acer monitor and regularly watch full screen vids on it.

I highly recommend it.The only downside is that the production money has been spent on quality of picture(which is a good thing) but the monitor is a fixed height and angle - in my opinion a small price to pay.

I love my Acer laptop.

It is my first laptop, and I am absolutely thrilled with it.

Not so new now - nearly a year old, absolutely problem free.

I've got an Acer laptop which has given me excellent service and which I would recommend. However, unlike Dot, I would always well research such an item before buying and wouldn't be swayed by saleman's talk. I purchased a �600 Acer Travelmate for �500 from Comet. My one complaint about the Acer though is that the battery doesn't last as long as I would like. Happy shopping!

I am currently on my 3rd Acer Laptop.I buy them new from www.Acernotebooks.co.uk who do some really good deals.The reason I am on my 3rd one is only because I sell them when I feel the need to upgrade.I have always been really pleased with the quality and value for money on Acer Laptops, and would highly recommend them.
