The email logo at the bottom of the screen doesnt show the numbers in red, of how many emails I have unopened. When I go into my email, the timer goes round, then the list of new emails appear on the left hand side. If I dont open the emails and just press the button to gomback to the main screen,then I can see the numbers for how many unopened emails I have. Why is this ? It used to work OK. My provider is btinternet.

The email is syncing when the timer goes round. The emails are there but in the background. This happens to mine when I am out of range of my wifi. If I sit in my back garden I cannot get wifi as the hub is at the front of the house. When I come back into the house my ipad does the same as you are describing.

It sounds like you used to have push email on and now you don't. You can toggle it back on in settings.
