Blood On Tissue After Going To The Toilet

Hi, 4 out ot the last 5 days, when ive been to the loo for a number 2 and wiped myself there has been bright red blood on the tissue, i dont mean just a drop, there is more than a drop, should i be concerned or does anyone know what the problem could be? I am a 45 year old male

If it's bright red then it's probably a tear. Phone your GP just in case.

Sounds like piles, but warrants the doctor to look inton this for you.

If, for whatever reason, you're convinced it's not piles, it's very possibly a tear, like ummmm said. A visit to the doctor will confirm this and he'll prob call it a fissure.
Depending on how bad it is, you might need minor surgery to remedy things ..... talking from personal experience here :)

The OP hasn't said whether they are in pain or not,.
I do agree that the most likely cause is prob piles, but let's not rule out the possibility of a fissure.

It does sound like Piles, particularly if you've had constipation and have been straining - is there itching and discomfort?

But it could be something more serious so definitely consult a Doctor and put your mind at rest!

I had something similar to you 25 yrs ago and went to see my mate who advised using St Mark's Dilators which were the equivalent of Russian Dolls but in glass, the smallest being about 2 inches long and the largest the size of a glass decanter.
I never got past the first size as it was too painful, but the main reason was that i was beginning to enjoy using the dilator and looking forward to my next dilatation..........a bit worrying, so i gave up the treatment...;-)

See your GP immediately. Someone I know had this problem and it turned out to be serious. Hospital checks will find out what it is. Luckily my friend had early treatment and all is now well.

I had similar (also a lot of pain, itching, etc...), a couple of GPs had a look/feel at different times and said no piles.

I was seeing a gastroenterologist anyway for another condition and he maintained it was likely to be piles, even though GPs hadn't found any.

I was sent for an endoscopy and he was right, found quite a few and sorted some of them with banding.

I think the strain of having chronic diarrhoea due to a malabsorption condition caused/contributed to mine forming.

might be a tear or a pile, but if it's bright red it's not coming from anywhere deep within. Take it to your doctor.
