BBC iPlayer has stopped working again on Sony smart TV's and some other Sony products. I read recently that there is no guarantee that having bought a Smart TV, that it will continue to operate as a smart TV as the apps can be turned off without warning. I looked at PVR's and Freeview set tops but none seem to cover a full set of catch up apps and streaming apps (like Love Film, Netflix). Is there any way of ensuring you can continue to receive these services?

Yes just checked my iPlayer on Sony and it's disappeared. The Beeb upgraded the iPlayer some time ago and I'm wondering if the new is incompatible with existing tv sets.

It's noted on their web site that they have this problem again J. It happened a couple of months ago and took a couple of weeks for them to fix it they never explained why.
For Owners of Sony 2012 smart TVs - a software fix has gone out for lost iPlayer issue. I'm glad to say my iPlayer has returned.
