Forwarded E-Mails Arrive As Gobbledygook

I have set a Message Rule on my father-in-law's PC to forward all incoming e-mails to me. The messages arrive here OK but are garbled. Both PCs use Windows 7 and Windows Live mail. E-mails sent from either of our addresses to the other arrive without problem.

Here is a small example of what I get (hidden in it are details of a meeting):

=0DDear Committee Member,=0D =0DP=
lease be advised that the next committee meeting will be held - =0D =0D        &nbs=
p; at the Dog & Gun, East Butterwick     &nbsp=

Can anybody help to rectify this, please?

* What is the problem?
* Is the problem in the settings of my PC or my father-in-law's?
* How can I correct this?

Note: I am in Belgium and he is in the UK. I will not be going back for several weeks. He is 91 and not able to do anything to the PC himself.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like Windows Live Mail is receiving HTML messages but trying to forward them as plain text.

On your FIL's PC, go to Options > Mail > Send > Sending and check that Mail Sending Format is set to HTML. (You'll obviously need to get someone else to do that for him or wait until you return home to the UK. The problem definitely seems to be at his end).

Many thanks. I'll check his PC next time I'm over there.
