When I were a lad some bicycle shops in Belfast had a large cardboard cut out advertising Raleigh bikes. It depicted a black man on one of their bikes being chased by a lion.
Reading this, from the BBC news magazine monitor, it seems that advertisement wasn't dreamt up but based on fact.
