WHAT , no royal family ? who will fill the fashion pages ?
Our Royal Family do have a diplomatic role in the sense that they meet and greet other crown heads of state, presidents etc. Being met by the Queen is an honour - rather than an ordinary Minister, the Queen will be well versed in the reasons why they are meeting. Tourism alone is bringing in the money, to see the sights of London, Royal Family, and the Changing of the Guard. I can see why Charles wants to move away from what could be seen as the same stuffy old rituals. I don't think he can interfere in any way with the politics. The Prime Minister meets the Queen once a week to discuss policies with her, it is after all her Prime Minister and her Parliament, to keep her in touch with what is currently happening in Parliament, so I would think Charles will do the same when he becomes King.
