But we seem to be seeing the difficulty in prosecuting people with such a high public profile as Roach. He has been on our TV screens for over 60 years...I can't think of many other celebrities that have had as much exposure over such a long time. It would have been difficult for the Jury to totally separate Roach from Barlow, no matter what the Judge instructed.
Not sure what the answer is in these cases...just keep b*ggering on I suppose.

Sir.prize. Its a difficult question and one that have I never had to answer in my own right. My only time as a Juror was for a very different type of trial and it was somebody I didn't know from Adam. And it lasted one day.
There has been so much speculation about this particular case, as well as other similar cases that are currently going through the judicial system. This speculation has been going on for months, and in some cases years, ever since the death of Savile. Plus the fact that Roach and the others are well-known personalities, who have been and still are on our TVs and in the media all the time. A Juror would have had to have been staying on Mars for the last 2-3 years, not to have observed any of this..
I would like to think that I would react with complete objectivity but it would be difficult. I have mentioned this in a previous post but another charge against Roach was dismissed last week, but the Jury still heard all the evidence. Its difficult to see how they could have put that out of their minds when considering the remaining charges.
I'm glad I wasn't on the Jury, that is for sure.

"In this situation there are no winners or losers."
I took this as the judgement of an innocent man (as he is in law) faced with a trial he won, but given so much backlash against trials that did not happen, had to go through in order to prove he would win. The usual end result is the innocent man saying, "I won, why on Earth did I have to go through this?" This would surely not be apposite in this case.
