Paedophilia

In light of the recent Rolf Harris case in which all his victims were females, and in other cases all other paedophiles victims are specifically boys, it got me wondering are there just paedophiles or are there heterosexual ones and homosexual ones?

While there have been loads of brilliant answers here and some really good debate lots of which I agree with I feel one issue has not been raised that often (and I am basing this purely on thin air :-)) abusers (of whatever form) are seeking to be powerful over others for some reason.

Whether they are repeating past experiences that made them feel powerless or just have that drive to be overwhelmingly "in charge".

And as ummmm has said many abusers have had terrible early lives and do not know what is normal behavior.

In fact I bet if you look back at your parents' behavior towards you and how you behave towards your own children you will probably find striking similarities both good and bad.

so there is a sexual element in some cases I think that mostly it is an abuse of a powerful position especially in these high profile 70's iconic figures "I am famous and can do what I like"

I can't agree with that entirely, belrec. Whilst some paedophiles are driven by the need to dominate and overpower, many aren't.

Everyones different but in many cases it's just sexual desire. Twisted sexual desire.
