Yes, probably. The one I tried is pretty near the Delia Smith one. Apparently, if you leave it in a tin for a couple of days it gets that sticky top that the McVities cakes had.
Thanks for asking puzzled - I have had two sessions of physio on my shoulder and have ultrasound tomorrow. It had a rest while I was on holiday for 10 days but now I`m back at work it has had a bashing and I`m constantly wrenching it. Loads of my colleages have shoulder problems and a lot of people have to have operations. I hope it won`t come to that so we`ll see.
McVities ginger cake isn't a patch on what it used to be. These days it's so soft, moist, and floppy it's almost impossible to cut neatly - it just falls apart under the knife.
I put in it the tin for a couple of days and as the recipe said, it has gone sticky on the top. I`ve just had a slice and it`s really nice - shame it`s so fattening.
