I wish to transfer various items from my Sonny Xperia L phone to an old computer which runs on Windows XP and I don't suspect has built in Bluetooth.

I have purchased a small Bluetoth USB Dongle, to plug into the computer.

What do I need to do know so as to successfully transfer the items over?

Wouldn't it be easier to connect using a USB cable, which are usually supplied with the phone? See page 97 of the User Guide for further information:-

Much easier to transfer pics with the cable, or if all your pics are on the memory card, use a card reader attached to the PC to put the memory card in, then just copy and paste.
I think it would take a very long time doing it via bluetooth.

Thanks for your answers, but I thought Bluetooth was the latest technology?
It's certainly "modern" technology, but not necessarily the most appropriate way of transferring large files - far, far quicker using a USB cable connection, or perhaps WiFi
