BBC TV ran a series of films probably in the 1980s, including one scientist who called into question what he was seeing through his electron microsope. The cells he examined were all on the same plane
His contention was that if, say, he cut vertically through a barrel of oranges, the sections would all look different and so should cells seen through an electron microscope.
Does anybody recall this programme and what was the ultimate answer?
