Cleaning A Fine Mesh Sieve

I`m just about to make a cake and noticed that some of the holes in the sieve are blocked. I think it`s probably a starchy residue from cooked rice. The holes are tiny and I have rubbed a scrubbing brush over them but they are still blocked. Is there a magic way of cleaning them out? Try soaking it for several hours in basin of water with a shake of washing powder in it and rinse. Cleans most things.
If you have a pan big enough to accommodate the sieve then fill the pan with water, add a couple of table spoons of biological washing powder, bring to the boil then simmer for about 30 minutes. This should do the trick.

Thanks. I`ll have a go with the washing powder.
Soak it with washing powder in warm water for a few hours, then dab at the blocked holes with a toothbrush or nailbrush. (Note: Bio washing powder contains enzymes that digest proteins. If you boil it, you effectively kill them off, and the result is the same as using non-bio powder. Keep biowash water at 40°C or below!)

And never use your cake sieve for anything other than making cakes..Sifting flour, icing sugar cocoa etc
put it in a hot dishwasher.
I would soak it in warm soapy water, then rub a wire brush or stiff bristle brush on it.
