Yesterday my boyfriend phoned the company he works for to check he was getting paid today and the secretary said that there is a problem with the pay and that they should get paid Tuesday.Today my boyfriend rang his boss because his wages are not in his account and the boss said that the company has gone bust and the receivers are in on Monday morning.

Can anyone tell me if he is likely to be paid? The secretary knew beginning of the week that the company was going bust, do you think that when she said there is a problem and that they should be paid Tuesday it is likely to happen? I thought that when a company gets the receivers in, then everything is frozen?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Sorry to say,he is very unlikely to get paid, The inland Revenue and VAT are first in line..

I hope I am wrong, but I wouldn't hold out much hope, might be as well for him to pop into Citizens advice or contact local Jobcentre, Good luck. Ray

he will not get paid. Unfortunatley in this sick world employees are last in line. Speak to a CAB office. They might prove us wrong.

As above, his only chance is if the receivers decide to run the business themselves until they find a buyer, then they'll need to retain staff and therefore will need to pay them. Depends on the business, the state of the finances and the chances that it can succeed as a business.

Bottom Line, very unlikely to get anything.
