Just seen this in the local and national news, just children.

It makes me wonder how they managed to travel without anyone raising any concern, though maybe they had something arranged with an escort, given their brother is already out there.

Maybe two young girls didn't raise as much suspicion.

Can 16 years olds travel alone (if they were alone) without any kind of parental consent? I know things can be put into place for children to travel alone, maybe younger ones, but I assumed there had to be something set up for them to be accompanied either side.

Good riddance :-/
If the parents had held their passports they wouldn't have got far. And where did the money to travel come from?

Wow, fantastic fantastic tennis!
Do they play much tennis in Syria just now?

Sorry, wrong thread! One of 10 children I think one article said so maybe not as easy to keep tabs on all of them, depending on the ages.

The brother already being there could be a link to the logistics such as tickets.

Maybe they didn't think such young girls would do something like this?

Sorry Sandy, getting distracted between threads and watching the Wimbledon men's final. Not paying enough attention!
Easily done.
I hope the young girls live to regret their escapade.
Parents probably consider them martys .
If Syrian men keep their women in purdah what will they make of, and how will they treat, two liberated teenage girls?
According to tonight's Sky news they've been funded to travel to Syria. Their brother is already there fighting with ISIS.
Ryanair take children from the age of 12. It used to be 7 and they provided and escort and you had to name the person meeting them in arrivals. They stopped that and raised the age to 12 but when they go through departures they are on their own.
One thing is certain they should never be allowed back in the UK and their family should be kept under close scrutiny.

But then I suppose they will be let back in and NHS services quickly put into action, so as to make sure the poor little darlings have not been harmed in any way.

Aren't these people striving to unseat President Assad?

Isn't that still official UK foreign policy?
