Do you think it's OK to try things on in shops and then go home and actually buy them online at a much lower price?

It seems debatable to me - the shops are putting the effort/cost into displaying stuff and holding stock - and are paying high street rates and physical costs which an online retailer just avoids.

Don't get me wrong - I buy loads of stuff online - but only things like books/music/tech etc - where I can make the decision to buy without seeing or trying the physical item.

Is this causing "the death of the high street"?

Is it justifiable as "living economically"?

You don't miss the water till the well runs dry. We'll end up with Amazon, Argos and similar outlets who are only middle men, offering no help, insight or advice about the products they're selling. It's not always about price.

I never buy online, love going to try on things in the shops (and yes surprisingly I do have a life!) but this last time in UK I couldn't find the duvet sets that I wanted anywhere, so am having to shop online for them, if amazon will eventually one day, marry up my email addy and password!!
Cheers Dave. :)
get down to the '' pre loved'' shops, and help save the planet :O
High Street. What's High about it? Local one has 7 Charity shops, 5 banks, 4 estate agents, 1 supermarket (co-op ) 1 Tesco Express, 1 greengrocer, one baker's 3 card shops, 1 hardware shop a café and a jewellers. No butcher or fishmonger, Ladies' or Men's clothes shop, no shoe shop. Do have a newsagent.
Town, shops closing at alarming rate. Buying clothes or shoes? Don't bother.
No independent bookshop.
Buy stuff online because I can't get what I want locally and have to use public transport. Ever tried taking a book case on the bus?

Must admit I buy online often. Not clothes or shoes but TV, washing machine, printer etc. I can't get out much so had I been in this situation a few years ago I would be in trouble.
