Photos Disappeared On Mobile Phone.

I have just upgraded my phone and everything's transferred over except for my photo gallery.Where will they be or have I lost them altogether?

How were the photos stored on your old phone? Most phones only allocate a small amount of memory to storing images, requiring you to insert a microSD card to store lots of images. Assuming that's how your images were stored, you need to retrieve that card to get your images back. (i.e. the SIM card only stores phone data, such as your contacts list. It's the microSD card that stores camera data, such as pictures and videos. When changing phones you need to ensure that you remove both cards from the old phone).

The old phone is a Samsung galaxy and the new one is an acer liquid.As far as I know the guy in the 3 store transferred both cards over.

Don't just assume. Take a look! Remove the back cover of your phone, take the battery out and check that there's a microSD card in the relevant slot. (See page 16 of the user manual).

If there is, and your new phone can't access the images, it's probably simply because your old phone labelled the folders differently. (For example, your old phone might have put pictures into a folder called 'Pictures', inside another folder called 'DCIM', whereas your new phone might look for pictures in a folder called 'Images', inside another folder called 'Data' - I've made those examples up, by the way, so don't actually look for those folders on your card!).

If there's a card in the slot, remove it and put it into the microSD card slot in your computer's card reader (if you've got one). If you've only got a slot for a normal SD card, use an adapter (which is usually supplied with every microSD card sold, so you shouldn't have any problem finding someone who owns one). If you've not got a card reader (or you can't get hold of an adapter) head to Poundland and buy one of these:

Once you've plugged the card into your computer you should be able to access its contents in the same way as reading from any other drive, so you'll be able to retrieve all of your photos.

One way to get photos off a Samsung Galaxy phone to a PC is to install Google Drive on both devices.

Install Google drive on phone, then install Google Drive on PC and logon to it with the same email address you use on the phone.

Now go to the phone and SHARE each photo with Google Drive.

In a few seconds the photo from your phone will appear on your PC in the Google Drive folder.
