Ebay First Class Post Signed For
4 Answers
When you sell something on Ebay and you use the signed for service, do you share the barcode number with the buyer? I know you can add a tracking number but the signed for service isn`t a tracking service (according to Royal Mail). I have posted a couple of things lately where the buyer has been out and it`s gone back to the sorting office. The last one said she didn`t receive a delivery card and they wouldn`t let her pick the item up without it so I had to re-arrange delivery from this end.

I had a real problem last time as the girl was out (which I can track with the barcode) but they didn`t leave a card. I emailed her and told her where the package was so she went off with ID to pick it up and they refused to give it to her without the 'while you were out' card. Luckily, she put her phone number on ebay so I called her and re-arranged delivery when she was going to be there. She couldn`t have re-arranged it herself because I have the code. That is why I was wondering if it is the "done thing" to put the code up for the buyer. The same has happened with my latest sale and I`m sitting here hoping that the postman bothered to leave her a card or does she think I haven`t sent the package in which case I could receive negative feedback.
I don't know whether it's the 'done thing' to give the Signed For number to a customer, but I thought that I would point out that when you say it isn't recorded - well it is, as Royal Mail Signed For is the new name that was given to Recorded Signed For post last year. Neither service is tracked though.
