when i delete a tune by highlighting it and pressing shift and delete, the tune is deleted from the library but not the computer. Whats the easiest way to remove the tune from the computers memory but from itunes?
When I wish to delete a song from my computer via iTunes, I just hit "delete" and don't press the 'shift key'.
iTunes comes up with a dialogue box that offers 3 options - 'Cancel' - does nothing, - 'Move to recycle bin' - This removes the song from the library and deletes it, or 'Keep Files' - This removes the song from your library but does not delete the file from your computer.
Hope this helps. Although I just tried hitting Shift+delete (like you do) and I still get the three options. So there probably is a setting somewhere to bring these options up.
Mouse: then the file would still be in iTunes, and would just report an error (you'd get an exclamation mark next to said song). The best way is as Headtime suggests.
I used to get the options headtime talks about but now i dont. I cant work out from the options how to get back to the way it used to be - Jackdaniels sorry there is no tools option
Please help
might it be to do with the location of my saved music on the computer?
mkjuk, Are you sure are not pressing delete from with a playlist rather than the whole library? Deleting from a playlist just removes it from that playlist and not the Library.
