Bumble Bee

I just saw the most enormouse bumble bee this afternoon. My dog kept checking behind her to make sure it was not following her. Is it not too cold for them at the moment or is it a sign warm weather is on the way?

I think it's a good sign of spring maggie! I saw a really gigantic one this time last year,and reported it to the BBC Springwatch survey which they were running.Don't know if they're doing the same thing this year?

There are lots about today looking fresh and new. Apparently if they have pollen in the "baskets " on their legs they have already started a nest. I have put out a bee home and hope I will attract a tenant.

Since its warmed up in the last couple of days, I've seen quite a few in my garden and I was happy to see they had taken advantage of some of my early flowering plants, primroses seem a stong favorite!!

I saw my first butterfly flutterby in my garden today too, a peacock i think. Is'nt nature wonderful!!

Yes we've had several bumble bees in the last few days, visiting our heather, primroses and Daphne. Have also had one butterfly so hopefully the tide has turned at last.
