Boundary Line & Hedgerow

If the hedgerow is on the OS boundary line and am proven to own the hedgerow can the neighbor remove the hedgerow back to the boundary line & claim that land as theirs?

If you own the hedge, then the boundary is on the other side of the hedge to you (neighbour's side.)

How can they remove the hedge "back to the boundary"?

the hedgerow was approx 15ft wide. Agri hrow is 3 spades wide with central ditch. Its centuries old but not shown on OS boundary line. The neighbour has cut it back to create a rear vehicle access. I'm in dispute and had to attend a mediation today. The neighbour suggests I abide by OS line and not my hedgerow as our boundary. I do not want HGVs replacing my hedgerow ;(

If I have this right, your neighbour is saying that your hedge has grown till it has crossed the boundary line into their land. If they're right, they can cut it back to the boundary, since it's growing on, or overhanging, their land. In past times, it was very common to dig a ditch to mark a boundary. The only problem with that is that sometimes the line of the bottom of the ditch was the boundary, and sometimes it was the line of the top of the bank of soil made when the ditch was excavated. Don't your deeds say anything about it? Remember that a boundary line has no width to it, so must be on one side or the other of your hedge, or somewhere in the middle of it.

Neighbour built a warehouse up to the hedgerow & has recently decimated the hedgerow to incorporate a vehicle access for his benefit. When I complain the police accuse me 'disturbing the peace' !

I filled the VA with an old caravan & car.....Will I get wifi in jail ;)
