It's a bad idea for two reasons, one is it's tokenism and women will see straight through it and feel patronised so it won't help with vote and another is it's vital we have the best people possible be they male, female, gay, straight, black or white. It's a bad idea for two reasons, one is it's tokenism and women will see straight through it and feel patronised so it won't help with vote and another is it's vital we have the best people possible be they male, female, gay, straight, black or white. I totally understand the need for women and minorities to feel represented but I think this is a very crude way of doing it.
Applying discrimination where it can not be justified merely makes victims of the innocent. To support it is to support the very discrimination one is claiming to be fighting. It is, by it's very nature, hypocritical, and morally wrong. One hopes supporters will one day see the light and that it doesn't get extended but stopped.

Didn't the Tories once select the one and only female Prime Minister in British politic history? And there are not many on here who thought she was more competent than her male counterparts.
