Can anyone help me please. I have found a silver coin with the appearance of the old shilling, but it is dated 1896(reign of Victoria) and relates to GeorgeIV who died in the late 1820s!How can this be? Your assistance please.
Graham-W could be on the right track, although 1816 would be George III. I think he's right in saying it's probably 1826 and quite worn, so that the date and the portrait are indistinct. A "worn" George IV could look like Victoria.
My question regarding which way the portrait is facing is irrelevant since both George and Victoria were facing to the left. I had forgotten about William IV who was facing to the right.
