Have lots of water cooling in fridge, and have had to put a couple of sheets over the settees, (leather) to avoid any sticking :-)

Wow, thanks ginger, I'll try and remember that and not be so daft in future, they do make things a little more comfortable though if I really wanted to cool the air I guess I could close all the doors and windows and switch the Aircon on, but it's just nice living on the seafront to enjoy the atmosphere of a nice day.

neti: perhaps you can then explain how it works? A fan moves air around, so how does it cool the air?
I'm well aware of the "cooling by evaporation" effect...but that involves evaporation of a liquid (eg sweat) from a surface (eg skin) and the absorption of energy from the surface...heat energy in this case, making the surface feel cooler.
That's not the same as "cooling the air" ie lowering the air's temperature such that it can be measured with a thermometer.
