Workmen And Their Not Replying
Does anybody have experience of local workmen coming round to check out the job, saying they will phone when they can do it and then nothing. This is really irritating and why do they do it? It is not only us, many of our friends have same experience and we all feel like going onto their trusted traders site and stating our views.

Business is business in their eyes and they will do the most profitable job first, even if it came after the other quote request.
I'd get a quote from at least three different company's if you can jetlag and ensure that each quotee is made aware that you are doing so - it might make them get back to you sooner if they realise you may go elsewhere.

I wouldn't give out any jobs to a tradesman who did not give a specific date to start, life's much too important to wait for them. I always 'pin' them down to a date.
I have a little book for the few tradesmen I use and recommend to my friends and others. To get in this book they have to be top quality, fair priced and punctual.
