Dissolving frogspawn
2 Answers
I noticed today that the earliest batch of frogspawn in my little pond has virtually dissolved and all the mini tadpoles are starting to wriggle free. I understand frogspawn contains nutrients for the growing eggs/tadpoles inside the jelly. Is there any point in keeping it in the pond once it starts to fall apart? Does it continue to provide food for the free tadpoles or does it just decay and contaminate the water and the floor of the pond?
